Music has always been part of our life ever since, the way our mother sings us lullaby when we were still a baby and now as we seek comfort from it. Plenty of genres now exists and these kinds of music have been passed through generations. It is so timeless that music from different periods can still be heard until to this day. As technology advanced, our exposure to music from different cultures, foreign or local advances too. Music has so much impact on every individual, brings peace, clarity, joy, and feelings we are unable to express. However, these would not be possible without the amazing and talented people who managed to bring color to this world through music. These are the composer, producer, singer, and all other people behind every great music.

SETH ARLAN
Seth Arlan, 18 years old is a song composer and producer based in Perth Western Australia. Together with friends or sometimes alone, in his bedroom are the times he likes writing and producing songs. He admits that he is a slave of the past where most of his crafts are influenced. It is the reason why he always attempts to give a nostalgic feeling to his listeners. He has always been a fan of the OPM writers and is now slowly getting more obsessed with dance music from Europe. Back in the early days of still discovering his sound, he was fond of listening to Perth artists together with the International acts from there. These are the people that inspire him to pursue his passion, at the same time, with the support of his friends and the amazing people he met at the local scene.

Before COVID happened, he was able to get into a music university and has been learning a few things about performing and songwriting. Also, posting his songs on Streaming sites and social media, although not focusing on marketing himself. Besides, he is extremely grateful that all of his listeners and followers just grew very organically. As someone who easily gets discouraged and has doubt on many things, he always tries to put his best foot forward in creating music. To try his hardest to make it as fun and meaningful not only for him but also to his listeners, as he said:” we rather than me”. As a songwriter, he pleasures the freedom and space it gives to him as there are times that he can be straight to the point and sometimes hide behind his songs.

Most of the days, he tries to do his best to get that creative spark and is always trying to do or listen to things that will inspire him. He also likes going out for walks or drives, depending on his mood. For him, ideas pop up all the time every day, which makes it tough to contain concepts and cementing it. Also, he thinks that there is no trick or tool when it comes to songwriting because every song is a new experience. To avoid getting into writing blocks, he always likes to give it a different approach every time. He used the Beatles as an example of how they were able to keep reinventing themselves every record and is always bringing something new to the table.
In creating his craft, music comes first, and everything else is a jigsaw puzzle for him. "Simplicity” is his main principle in writing songs as well as being a big fan of evolving sounds and being okay with being comfortable when making music. Trusting his instincts when it comes to writing a melody and trying to make it catchy, both weird and cool. Knowing his work is finished when it starts giving him a headache while staring at the recording station screen. Using Jean Sibelius's quote, “ Music begins where the possibilities of language end.”
